To say it's a make-or-break year for the New York Jets feels real. It's only head coach Aaron Glenn's second year with the team. But the NFL is impatient. Coaches are expected to make quick turnarounds and create Cinderella stories out of thin air.
So, the pressure is on Glenn. It's getting hot in New York, and we don't mean the near-100 degree weather.
Ahead of the 2026 season, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN has released a list of the best wide receivers for the year. It's calculated using a survey of NFL executives, coaches and scouts. These are insiders who know who has potential this season.
Jets and Aaron Glenn miss the mark in important ranking
So, did any Jets make the cut? The answer is, "No." There isn't a single Jets player included in the top 10 or honorable mentions section. Considering how important the wideout is to any team's offense, that's a blow. A big one.
But, there's a glimmer of hope. Garrett Wilson, a longtime kingpin of this team's offense, was named in the "also receiving votes" section, which was nice to see. Did he deserve at least an honorable mention? Probably. But, at least he was named.
Another positive is that the Jets just used one of their first-round picks to select wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. out of Indiana. What's lucky for him is that because of the team's wide receiver room, he really has the chance to step it up and be a focal point of this team sooner than many rookies.
It's a red flag that the Jets weren't included on this wideout list. But the real test will happen come September.
