Jets made key $100,000 difference in Sauce Gardner's record-setting contract extension

5 hours ago 1

Sauce Gardner's new four-year contract extension is worth $120.4 million.

A bit specific from the New York Jets, huh?

They knew exactly what they were doing.

Earlier in the offseason, Derek Stingley Jr. signed a three-year, $90 million extension with the Houston Texans.

Stingley's average value per year: $30 million on the nose.

Sauce's average value thanks to that decimal action: $30.1 million.

By $100,000, Gardner is the new highest-paid cornerback in NFL history.

He also sets the record for total value comfortably by getting that fourth year.

The Jets will hope Gardner can bounce back from a slightly rocky 2024 to make the whole contract pay off.

Because when you're the highest-paid ever, you have to deliver.
