Justin Fields had another night to forget as the New England Patriots beat the New York Jets. Fields, who’s playing on a two-year, $40 million contract, finished the game with a stat line of 116 passing yards, one passing touchdown, 11 carries, 67 rushing yards, and a rushing TD.
Following the game, Jets insider Connor Rogers accused head coach Aaron Glenn of jeopardizing the team. Rogers questioned the rationale of leaving Justin Fields in the game. He said,
"I mean, there are two people who make the same mistakes every single week on this team. It's Justin Fields and Michael Clemons, and neither of them is ever held accountable, but everybody else is. It feels like a message has been sent. You bench your best linebacker. It's always something different."•

"The job of the head coach is to put the team in a position to succeed. You can't walk away from that game tonight and say he did that."The Jets were no match for their in-form divisional rivals. The Patriots didn't even need an All-Pro caliber night from MVP candidate Drake Maye.
Mike Vrabel's side rode on their run game for their eighth win in a row. It gives them an impressive 3-0 record against divisional rivals, and leaves the Jets with yet another loss in what's been a frustrating first season for Aaron Glenn.
Justin Fields and the Jets are rooted to the bottom of the AFC East
The Patriots are soaring to the playoffs while the New York Jets are rooted to the bottom of the division. Justin Fields and Co. are below the Patriots (9-2), Buffalo Bills (6-3), and Miami Dolphins (3-7). Their postseason hopes are virtually over with just under half of the regular season left to play.
The Jets have struggled mightily on offense and defense. Their starting quarterback has thrown fewer than eight passing touchdowns for the season and has eclipsed the 200 passing yards mark in just four of his nine appearances.
As for defense, the Jets have kept opponents to under 20 points just twice this season. Those were against the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers in Weeks 6 and 7, respectively. Interestingly, Aaron Glenn's side managed to lose both games.
The Jets are having a rough 2025 season, and it's only a matter of time before they fully embrace the tank. The team might be better off drafting a QB in the loaded 2026 class than hanging on to hopes that Justin Fields will become an elite shot caller in New York.
