Jets' Breece Hall gives concerning update on contract extension

6 hours ago 1

Breece Hall has faced injury obstacles since he started his NFL career. A new obstacle for the Jets' running back is getting his next contract.

Hall is entering the final year of his rookie deal and questions remain about if New York wants to retain him for the future. He was asked about a potential extension and was brutally honest in his response.

"I wasn't drafted by them, I'm not their guy. I've got to prove it every day," Hall said. "It's always, 'he's got potential,' but I want to be the product."

The Jets front office has undergone a transformation. Darren Mougey, who came from the Broncos, was hired this season along with new head coach Aaron Glenn. They weren't there when Hall was drafted and they may be less high on him than others.

There's also the threat of second-year running back Braelon Allen, who showed glimpses of power and burst in limited opportunities last season. The Wisconsin product toted the ball 92 times for 334 yards his rookue season.

What Hall said is true but it's rare for a player to be so candid about the situation. He realizes there's nothing he can do but go play at his best and earn another contract. Hall would rather have an extension but that's how the business works.

It all makes for a very interesting season in the Jets' backfield.
