The New York Jets are 3-10, and heading into the final four weeks of the year, will get a fresh face at the quarterback spot.
With Justin Fields and Tyrod Taylor out for Week 15 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Aaron Glenn's Jets have to turn to Brady Cook, an undrafted free agent out of Missouri.
As ESPN's Rich Cimini highlighted earlier in the week, Cook making this start on Sunday in Week 15 will make for some interesting Jets history.
Jets' Brady Cook set to make franchise history in Week 15 vs. Jaguars
"The last time the Jets rolled out an undrafted rookie as their starting quarterback?" Cimini writes, "It was Dec. 15, 1975, when J.J. Jones started for the injured Joe Namath, who wound up playing anyway."
An undrafted free agent rookie hasn't started for the Jets since 1975. 50 years after the last instance, Cook is making some interesting Jets history.
But what makes this so interesting is that the last time this happened for the Jets, it involved Joe Namath not making a start. However, as Cimini points out, Namath got into the game despite not getting the start.

Jones threw one interception and had just one completion in the few series he started for the Jets 50 years ago. While this weekend won't be Cook's NFL debut, it will be the first start he's made in his NFL career.
His relief appearance for the Jets in Week 14 wasn't a great one, as he threw two interceptions, no touchdowns, and went 14-of-30 for 163 yards against the Miami Dolphins.
Now, set to start amid Fields and Taylor both being ruled out, Cook will make some Jets franchise history as the first undrafted rookie quarterback to make a start in 50 years. Hopefully for the Jets and Cook, he lasts longer than Jones did.
