Jerry Jones can finally feel good about the Dallas Cowboys. Sure, it's not like he's had a bad roster lately. He's got guys like Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. But he can feel extra good heading into the new season.
The Cowboys are projected to win 9.2 games this coming season, which is a solid estimate and one that should make the Cowboys happy. It could even get them to the playoffs, and if Prescott and the guys play their cards right, deep into it.
Jon Machota of The Athletic agrees with that projection, and he believes it's going to be a good year for the Cowboys.
Cowboys could push for the NFC East title
For Machota, it's all about the Cowboys staying healthy and able to take the field on a weekly basis. If they can do that, they'll be dangerous, in a good way.
"If Dallas stays healthy, this should be a 10-win team competing for an NFC East title with the Philadelphia Eagles," he states in the piece. "The offense is loaded and the defense is showing signs that it could be significantly better in Christian Parker's first season as defensive coordinator."
He adds, "But the offense would take a notable step back if franchise QB Dak Prescott or leading rusher Javonte Williams suffered a significant injury. That group probably has to be elite for Dallas to top the nine-win mark."
So, competing for the NFC East title sounds like a fantastic place to be. Now it's time to see it happen.
