Houston Astros shortstop Jeremy Pena and fiancée Julia Grosso, who plays for the National Women's Soccer League's Chicago Stars FC, announced their engagement on Saturday. The couple took the big step in their lives during their trip to the Caribbean.
On Monday, Grosso posted snaps from St. Lucia, where her partner popped the question. The cover picture included a photo of Grosso from her digital camera, posing in front of the mirror. Other slides included snaps from their hotel swimming pools and a romantic pose under a waterfall.
Grosso described the memorable trip with a four-word caption while Pena reacted with two emojis, showcasing his love.

The major life decision comes after a successful season in their respective professions. Pena batted .304 with 17 home runs and 62 RBIs the which earned him his first All-Star selection. He seemed in a similar vein that won him the American League Championship Series and World Series MVP in 2022.
Meanwhile, Grosso, the 2020 Olympic Gold Medalist with Team Canada, signed a new agreement with the Stars that will keep her in Chicago till the end of the 2028 season. She made 24 appearances for Chicago and a further 11 appearances for Canada. She was amply supported by Pena, who switched "WAG" duties with Grosso during a game against Switzerland in October.
Julia Grosso and Jeremy Pena well-spent offseason in the Caribbean
As a North American sports couple, the winter months of December and January are the most opportune time for Pena and Grosso to spend some free time together. They seemed to have made the most of it, spending most of their time in the pleasant Caribbean islands.
Ahead of their engagement in St. Lucia, Grosso and Pena were in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. Grosso posted pictures of herself on the beach, sporting a pink bikini, with Pena wearing black shorts.
The engagement comes a year after their first appearance in public together. Pena went down on one knee in front of a lavish and elaborate beachside setup on Saturday. It included decorative lettering that read "Marry Me" and a heart designed with white flowers, with rose petals laid out on the floor.
