Jayson Tatum's Girlfriend Ella Mai Shares Rare Words on Raising a "Singing Hooper" Away From Spotlight

Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum and his girlfriend, Ella Mai, have kept their relationship low profile. The six-time All-Star and the R&B singer only hinted about the birth of their son, Dylan, in 2024. Tatum and Mai have not said much bout their little boy until recently.

In an interview with “KISS XTRA” on Wednesday, Mai replied when asked by host DJ Ace about what her son could become (via TMZ):

"It's giving a little bit of both right now. We might have a little singing hooper on our hands."

The Grammy Award-winning singer, though, was open to anything Dylan could pursue:

“Who knows? He could be a gymnast. He might be completely not anything like us.”

Jayson Tatum’s girlfriend added that her son could “hold a little note, though," which has her excited.

Tatum and the “Boo’d Up” hitmaker started dating in 2019, according to multiple reports. The speculations and rumors grew when Ella Mai attended a few Celtics games in 2020. Still, they never denied or confirmed their relationship status. Only occasional public sightings together in high-profile events made fans conclude they were an item.

In June 2024, Mai appeared in multiple Celtics games with a clear baby bump. Jayson Tatum has “Deuce,” the name of his oldest son, on his shoes every time he plays. In late October 2024, the writing became “Deuce & Dylan,” which internet detectives understood as Tatum’s confirmation of his son with Mai.

Ella Mai doesn’t want publicity to hound her son with Jayson Tatum

In the interview with DJ Ace, Ella Mai left no doubt where she stands when it comes to her son Dylan’s exposure to the public:

“I was just like, ‘We’re gonna keep this completely private.’ I’m gonna keep my peace, and I don’t want anyone wishing negativity on me or him or whatever. The internet is the Wild Wild West.”

The British artist added that she and Jayson Tatum were “intentional” with what they put on social media about Dylan.

In a Boston Celtics game last season, once the TD Garden camera panned on Mai and the little boy, she immediately covered his face. Tatum, who often brings Deuce on the floor, has also kept Dylan out of the limelight.
