Jaylen Brown rips 'face of clickbait' Stephen A. Smith in latest NSFW rant: 'Tell this motherf—er to retire'

Jaylen Brown's criticism of Stephen A. Smith appears to have been more than a one-off rant.

Weeks following his back-and-forth with Smith, which stemmed from the ESPN's star's criticism of how Brown spoke about the Boston Celtics' first-round elimination, Brown was on his live stream Sunday, addressing Smith once again.

Revisiting Smith's "First Take" segment about Brown's prior Celtics comments, the star wing went on another NSFW rant, once again calling for Smith to retire from his job.

Here's a look at Brown's latest live stream rant about Smith.

Jaylen Brown's NSFW rant on Stephen A. Smith

Brown has continued to live stream to fans in his offseason — and on Sunday night, he decided he would revisit Smith's "First Take" segment from earlier in the month, when he was talking about Brown calling the 2025-26 season the favorite of his NBA career.

Brown watched the full segment in real time, addressing parts of it as he paused.

"Let's watch it together on stream, chat," Brown said. "We're just doing some investigative journalism."

When Smith noted how Brown's star teammate, Jayson Tatum, appeared on "First Take" before Brown's live stream, Brown answered by saying, "What kind of journalism is this?"

“Jayson Tatum hasn’t been on my stream, and this is what we’re talking about on First Take? What if [Tatum] just don’t like being somewhere in an uncontrolled environment?” Brown said. "Why are you doing journalism on me having guests on my stream? And this is a part of the reason why I started streaming. This is a part of the reason why people use the term ‘clown,’ and it synchronizes with someone like Stephen A. Smith. Because this is what you’re using your platform for. What are you talking about?”

“This is a narrative that he’s creating. This isn’t journalism,” Brown continued. “This is him making his own opinion and [formulating] it about what I have to say, on his platform. And this is why, respectfully, a lot of people say, ‘F— Stephen A.’ Because this is the type of stuff he does, and then he doesn’t recognize it.”

By the end of the segment, Brown took it a step further, fully calling out Smith and revisiting his prior call for Smith to retire.

“Man, f— Stephen A. Stephen A., Stephen B., Stephen C.,” Brown said.“My offer still stands. You want me to be quiet and stop streaming? Well, I want you to be quiet and get off these networks. Because you’re not using your platform to do real journalism. You’re using your platform to use clickbait.”

"Tell this motherf---er to retire, because he’s the face of clickbait media."

Jaylen Brown-Stephen A. Smith beef

Brown and Smith have been exchanging words ever since the Celtics' elimination from the 2026 NBA Playoffs.

It stemmed from Brown's own comments about Boston's elimination, from saying that the 2025-26 season was his favorite as an NBA player so far despite a first-round exit, to calling out NBA officials, suggesting that they need to be "investigated."

With trade speculation increasing, both Brown and Brad Stevens shut down the possibility that he could be moved this offseason — but on "First Take," Smith dove into his disdain for how Brown spoke publicly recently.

"[The Celtics'] star this season, and one of the top-two preeminent stars over the last seven years, goes on camera — 24 hours after losing, not six months, not eight months, not the next season — 24 hours after losing a 3-1 lead, and says this was his favorite year," Smith said. "You can't do that."

"[Jaylen Brown] needs to be quiet, and like Big Perk said, go on vacation, unless you're trying to get traded."

Brown responded to those "be quiet" comments on X, suggesting that Smith should retire.

"Let’s give the people what they want," Brown wrote.

While Smith had his own response on X, writing that he has "love" for Brown but "folks are looking out for you," it wasn't until Sunday that the Celtics star re-ignited the feud on his live stream.
