Jaxson Dart is heading into his second NFL season with the New York Giants. He is already working with a new head coach.
For a young quarterback, a lack of stability early on might come with frustration. In Dart’s case, his excitement cannot be contained.
"I can't wait," the young quarterback told the Associated Press.
Dart is believed to be landing in one of the best new situations in the NFL, as John Harbaugh was a major target after the Baltimore Ravens shockingly let him go. Several teams reached out to request interviews. Harbaugh seemed to be considering all options, but the Giants’ push was too hard to pass up.
Now, the veteran head coach will get an opportunity to go from coaching a league MVP in Lamar Jackson to working with a hopeful in Dart. They got an early start with their discussions, and Dart is looking forward to his new chapter.
"I've had a lot of conversations with Coach before he had the job finalized, and at points where we were just talking in a room and the room had to get dispersed just because of how long we were talking. So, he's a coach that you know I just am really excited to play for, from obviously, you know, his resume from a coaching standpoint, but just him as a person,” the quarterback added.

Brian Daboll figured he was coaching for his job with the Giants heading into last season. He attempted to take a safe route by rolling out the front office’s one-year acquisition, Russell Wilson, at quarterback. A few weeks in, it was realized Wilson wasn’t the answer. Dart’s redshirt was off.
The rookie quarterback started 12 out of 14 games in 2025. He completed 63.7 percent of his passes for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions. On the ground, Dart rushed for 487 yards and nine touchdowns. Daboll was done after 10 games, and Mike Kafka was just a placeholder until Harbaugh landed the job.
There’s no question that Harbaugh enters the Giants’ organization with a strong history. He’s won 61 percent of his games throughout his career and collected victories 13 times in the postseason. The Ravens won the Super Bowl in 2012 under Harbaugh after a 10-6 season.
Dart still doesn’t have a firm idea of who will coach him as his offensive coordinator, but the Giants have put together a search after learning that Todd Monken was officially out. Those questions still remain, but the soon-to-be sophomore passer remains excited either way, as Harbaugh brings a lot to the table after a rough first season.
