Lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah will have to play a crucial for India if they are to square the two-match home Test series against South Africa. The Proteas stunned the hosts by 30 runs in a low-scoring first Test at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. In a match that lasted less than three full days, South African off spinner Simon Harmer outshone his Indian counterparts on a rank turner.
Bumrah impressed on the opening day of the Test match, picking up 5-27 in 14 overs as the Proteas were bowled out for 159 in 55 overs. South Africa, though, hit back to restrict India to 189. In their second innings, skipper Temba Bavuma's unbeaten 55 lifted his side to 153 as Bumrah finished with economical figures of 1-24 from 10 overs. India's batters, however, failed to chase down a target of 124.
