The Dallas Mavericks have had a rough start, falling to 3-8 in the Western Conference. Among the many concerns, one major talking point has been Jason Kidd’s decision to start rookie Cooper Flagg at point guard, a move even his son, TJ Kidd, appeared to criticize.

In a clip posted on X (formerly Twitter), TJ Kidd appeared on a call discussing his father’s decision to start Cooper Flagg at point guard in Kyrie Irving’s absence.

"No, I don't know why he is playing him at point guard. That doesn't make any sense to me. He's not a point guard, I know that," TJ expressed.

Continuing to question the move to play Flagg at the one, TJ wished the rookie well but still seemed to debate his father’s decision.

"I think that he's a great basketball player, and he has an incredible future ahead of him," TJ continued. " I wish him nothing but the best down there in Dallas, but I don't get it. I don't get the decision-making of any of it, but hey, you've got to control what you can control. Hang in there, buddy. Hopefully, it will get better down there."

Cooper Flagg has started most games for the Mavs at point guard, with the rookie averaging 15.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game in 11 appearances.

However, even after showing improvement and posting a career-high 26 points against the Bucks in their last game, Jason Kidd’s decision to start Flagg at point guard continues to raise eyebrows.

The move is particularly puzzling given that offseason signing D’Angelo Russell is available for selection.

NBA insider reveals Jason Kidd’s “complete alignment” with Luka Doncic trade following Nico Harrison’s exit

Luka Doncic's trade to the Lakers has backfired on the Dallas Mavericks, as the Slovenian continues to deliver for Los Angeles while his former team struggles to find wins. The Mavs’ poor 3-8 start ultimately led to Nico Harrison’s dismissal on Tuesday.

Although the blame has landed on Harrison, NBA insider Shams Charania revealed coach Jason Kidd was in "complete alignment" with Harrison and the Dallas higher-ups over the trade.

"At that time though, It’s important to note, there was full alignment in that organization, from ownership to Nico Harrison to his staff to coach Jason Kidd," Charina expressed via First Take.

BREAKING: Shams implies Kidd was in on the Luka trade! “At that time though, It’s important to note, there was full alignment in that organization, from ownership to Nico Harrison to his staff to coach Jason Kidd” Sorry Mavs fans, I can’t return as a fan until Kidd is fired.

Following Harrison’s departure, the spotlight now shifts to Jason Kidd, who has faced heavy criticism this season for his tactics and the decision to use Cooper Flagg as the starting point guard.
