Why Jared Leto Climbed the Empire State Building
Jared Leto has been accused of sexual misconduct by several women online.
The Oscar winner denies any wrongdoing in response to the allegations, detailed in Air Mail June 7.
Four women alleged they were underage when they began interacting with Leto, who is now 53, and two of them have gone on the record with their allegations.
In April, DJ Allie Teilz reposted a 2012 Facebook status update: "Youre not really in L.A. until Jared Leto tries to force himself on you backstage… In a kilt.. And a snow hat," Air Mail reported. Per the outlet, she also wrote in an Instagram Story, "I was assaulted and traumatized by this creep when I was 17."
"He knew my age and didn’t care," she continued, per the outlet, which noted nine women in total had accused the actor of impropriety, with seven remaining anonymous. "What he did was predatory, terrifying and unacceptable."
Leto's rep told the outlet in response, "Ms. Teilz’s allegations are demonstrably false."
Another accuser, Laura La Rue, alleged in an interview with Air Mail that in 2008, she met Leto at an animal rights benefit, which she attended with her mom. Per the outlet, she said she told him she was 16 and that he allegedly asked for her number.
La Rue said she and Leto began exchanging emails and that she visited him at his music studio several times. One time, she alleged, he walked out of a room completely naked. Aged 17 at the time of the alleged incident, she told Air Mail she "thought maybe this was just what adult men do."
Leto's rep told the outlet, "Their communications contain nothing sexual or inappropriate."
The 30 Seconds to Mars frontman's rep also alleged that La Rue had at one point "applied to work as Mr. Leto’s personal assistant, further underscoring the absence of anything inappropriate in any of their interactions." La Rue denied applying for such a position.

Another women alleged in her comments to Air Mail that she met Leto at Urth Caffé in Los Angeles in 2006, when she was 16, and that he began calling her repeatedly over the next three weeks in the middle of the night.
"The conversations turned sexual," the accuser said. "He changed—his voice, the way he talked. It scared me."
Meanwhile, an actress told Air Mail that she and Leto allegedly began communicating when she was underage and that he asked her sexual questions. She added that after she turned 18, his sexual behavior escalated during a visit to his house. She alleged her exposed himself, "started masturbating” and “then he walked over, grabbed my hand, and put it on him."
The Dallas Buyers Club actor's rep said to Air Mail in response, "All of the allegations are expressly denied."
