Jamie Foxx and daughter Anelise Bishop's special duet at the 2026 BET Awards wasn't just a dream.

"This is my daughter Anelise, give it up," the Oscar winner said in introducing the 17-year-old, who sat in on guitar while he played piano during Kehlani's performance of "Folded," which he said the duo had been "vibing out to" all year.

He proceeded to sing a few bars of the hit song, which is nominated for Video of the Year and Viewers' Choice. Kehlani is also already a winner for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist at the June 28 show unfolding at Los Angeles' Peacock Theater.

But it's hardly a surprise that talent runs in the Foxx family, Anelise's dad having been singing the praises of her piano playing for years, and here's the proof her musical prowess contains multitudes.

"That's what's been good is we have been able to connect like that," Foxx told Entertainment Tonight in 2020 of his then-11-year-old's shared interest. And she plays piano "so well, she actually plays my songs while I sing to them. She said, 'I am going on tour with you.' I am blessed, we are all blessed."

They put that plan into action in 2022 when she played and he crooned "In Love By Now" during a concert in Dallas.

Foxx shares Anelise with ex Kristin Grannis, as well as daughter Corinne Foxx, 32, with ex Connie Kline. The 57-year-old is also expecting a baby with girlfriend Alyce Huckstepp.

He has credited both daughters with helping him pull through after his near-fatal stroke in 2023, but in singling out Anelise in a June 2025 Instagram post, Foxx wrote, "They haven’t invented the words that I would need to thank you in the proper way."

The Collateral star continued, indicating Anelise helped nurse him back to health with music, "I know just being my daughter at times is a difficult task… But you carry it with Grace… Strength… And you’re so damn cool… Only God knows between you and him what you both decided when it came time to play that guitar."

"I will be forever, indebted, and grateful," Foxx concluded. "You went beyond medicine… And played a miracle… I cannot wait for the world to hear your music… Because I know you’re gonna bless the world… The way you blessed me…. As I cry myself to sleep… I just wanna say I love you."
