Jameson Williams pays tribute to Marshawn Lynch with 'Beast Quake' touchdown celebration

There's plenty of classic touchdown celebrations sprinkled across NFL history, but few are as famous as former Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch's "Beast Quake."

Lynch first made the celebration, which consists of a backward leap into the end zone, well known with a huge touchdown run against the Saints back in a 2011 playoff game. It's a play some still consider to be the best run in NFL history.

On Sunday, Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams paid homage to that iconic celebration after a dash to the end zone in Detroit's 52-6 blowout win over the Jaguars.

Here's a look at Williams' touchdown and celebration in the Lions' Week 11 victory, plus the details to know about the famous "Beast Quake" play that made Lynch's celebration so popular.

The Lions exploded for 28 points in the first half against Jacksonville, handling the Jaguars with ease. But early in the third quarter, they were still hungry for more offense.

Jared Goff hit Williams in stride, and as the third-year receiver often does with the ball in his hands, he put the burners on and found a clear path to the end zone for a 64-yard touchdown.

Just as he reached the pylon, Williams leaped into the air, turned toward his two Jaguars defenders and grabbed his groin, the same celebration Lynch made famous on his "Beast Quake" score.

Williams, who recently missed two games after being suspended by the NFL for violating its performance-enhancing substances policy, is arguably the league's top big-play threat at the wide receiver position when he's on the field.

Through eight games, Williams has 538 receiving yards on 24 receptions, an outstanding average of 22.4 yards per catch. Once he breaks free into the secondary, he's almost a lock to reach the end zone. Sunday's huge play was yet another highlight for Williams, who added some style points at the end as well.

Marshawn Lynch 'Beast Quake' touchdown

The inspiration of Williams' touchdown against the Jaguars came from a touchdown run that took place nearly 14 years ago.

On January 8, 2011, the Seahawks were facing the Saints in an NFC Wild Card matchup. Seattle had the ball with under four minutes remaining while holding a 34-30 advantage.

As the Seahawks looked to put the game away, Lynch did more than just that — after a handoff up the middle, the running back rumbled through New Orleans defenders, got into the secondary, sat another defender down with a mean stiff arm and stayed on his feet all the way to the end zone.

When he reached the goal line, Lynch jumped into the air, grabbed at his groin and turned around, a monster 67-yard run and celebration now known as the "Beast Quake."
