Whatever Jameis Winston does during his life, he will never not be associated with crab legs, and the veteran quarterback is always game to poke fun at it.
He did so on Wednesday night during MLB’s opening night broadcast on Netflix when he was a special guest during the pregame show ahead of the Yankees-Giants game.
Netflix had put Winston at the Crazy Crab located on the concourse of Oracle Park when host Elle Duncan asked him if he had paid for the crab legs there.
“Well, Elle, I may or may not be plotting to get some fresh crab legs,” Winston responded without missing a beat. “But a trusted source told me that ever since Barry Bonds retired from the San Francisco Giants, that sales have skyrocketed due to the decrease of baseball-related crab deaths.”
He added: “My history with crab legs, ya’ll may know.”
In case you may not be familiar with the connection, back in Winston’s college days at Florida State University, he had been accused of stealing $32 worth of crab legs and crawfish from a Publix in Tallahassee, Florida.

Winston was issued a civil citation over the incident.
He later claimed that he had been hooked up with the food for free by a store employee, though, Publix disputed it following an internal review.
Winston has poked fun at the incident on a number of occasions, including on TikTok in December, taking part in a viral trend on the social media platform.
“In your 20s, you will walk by the seafood section at Publix … it’s very important you keep walking,” he wrote over the video, which was part of the “In your 20s trend.
