Carson Wentz was the Philadelphia Eagles' starting quarterback, until he wasn't.
The same thing could happen to Jalen Hurts.
Hurts isn't in danger of losing his job yet, but Philly has been here before.
"This is Philadelphia, and Hurts knows very well that the Eagles are willing to move on at key positions when things aren't working," ESPN's Dan Graziano wrote as part of a new article on Tuesday. "That's how he got the job in the first place, when the Eagles decided to get rid of Wentz shortly after signing him to a big new extension."

Hurts and the Eagles will be without their top wideout, A.J. Brown, after trading him to the Patriots. It might've been a necessary move, but it probably doesn't help the overall cause toward moving the ball through the air.
They're also working under a new offensive coordinator, which adds increased variability.
"Hurts is a willing pupil, and he's working diligently to learn and master the Sean Mannion offense this offseason," Graziano writes. "His career has been defined by his willingness and ability to make himself a better player in specific ways the organization has asked of him. Some years, the new offense in Philly works great. Other years, it does not. Which will this be? And if it's the latter, what does that mean for Hurts' future with the Eagles?"
There's certainly a path where Hurts' ending doesn't look all that different from Wentz's.
"Hurts has three years left on his contract and $22 million in guaranteed money set for 2027," Graziano writes. "But we've already heard rumblings out of Philly this offseason about Hurts' level of perceived responsibility for the offense's 2025 struggles. And those rumblings will only get louder if the offense struggles again in 2026."
Hurts brought Philadelphia a Super Bowl title just a couple years ago. He certainly deserves the benefit of the doubt.
But these are the fans that booed Santa Claus. Sometimes, job security can disappear quickly in Philadelphia.
