Knicks guard Mikal Bridges (25) reacts after he puts up a three-point shot over Miami Heat forward Simone Fontecchio (0) during the first half when the New York Knicks played the Miami Heat Sunday, December 21, 2025.

This was a nice microcosmic look into what makes these Knicks so intriguing. Here’s why. Jalen Brunson scored 47 — most he’s ever had at Madison Square Garden — and that led the Knicks to a 132-125 win over the Heat in a highly entertaining game Sunday night. He had eight assists. He made all 11 free throws. He was 15-for-26 from the floor.
“What can I say,” Brunson said bashfully when it was done. “The ball was going in the hoop.”
Said Mikal Bridges: “We had to get good stops and just let JB do his magic.”
And Mike Brown: “You want the MVP of the league on your side.”
