Jake Peacock ready for tough matchup against Suakim at ONE 173: “The more you hurt him, the more he comes forward”

British-Canadian striker Jake Peacock acknowledged that Suakim Sor Jor Tongprajin will be a tough opponent to put away at ONE 173: Superbon vs Noiri.

The 32-year-old collides with the Thai wrecking ball in a crucial bantamweight Muay Thai bout on Nov. 16 at Tokyo’s Ariake Arena.

'The One' is coming off a surgical TKO victory in his last bout, where he finished Japanese veteran Shinji Suzuki in February at ONE 171.

However, Peacock admits he will need to put on an even greater performance to have a chance to finish Suakim.

The former three-division Lumpinee Stadium champion is tough as nails and as durable as they come, which he proved in his last bout.

Peacock sang praises of Suakim in his pre-event interview with ONE:

"Suakim's got a lot of experience. He's extremely tough – as we saw in his last fight, he broke his orbital early on and still kept coming forward. The more you hurt him, the more he comes forward. You either put him out, or expect someone who'll keep walking through your shots for the whole fight."

Peacock acknowledges that Suakim will keep on coming, and he must keep the pressure going once they share the Circle.

Despite his rise, Jake Peacock acknowledges his underdog status against the more experienced Suakim.

Still, the Canadian-British warrior is confident victory will be at hand at ONE 173. He told the promotion:

“They’re expecting one style, but they’ll get something completely different. Everyone has an idea of how I fight – they have no clue what’s coming.”

'The One' added:

“I’m very powerful for the division. I don’t think he’ll be able to walk through my shots like he’s done with others. I’m always going for a finish – that’s what I do.”
