Pittsburgh Steelers fans are hoping their team will go out and trade for Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
Of course, we know Ramsey is available via trade because the Dolphins have actually said so. However, the seven-time Pro Bowler has not been dealt yet, likely because of the enormous amount of guaranteed money on his deal for this season.
While it remains to be seen if the Steelers will actually trade for him, buzz has been building for that to possibly happen after Ramsey may have started following some Steelers players on social media.
But after seeing a report on Jaire Alexander, who recently signed with the Baltimore Ravens after he was cut loose by the Green Bay Packers, we wouldn't bet on a Pittsburgh-Miami trade involving Ramsey.
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Alexander was considering signing with the Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins. An ESPN graphic and Adam Schefter also revealed the Kansas City Chiefs and Carolina Panthers had interest, respectively.
Nowhere did it say the Steelers had interest in Alexander, who turned out to be reasonably priced after signing a one-year deal worth up to $6 million.
If the Steelers didn't have interest in Alexander at that price, we would assume they won't be interested in Ramsey, who has over $20 million for the acquiring team to pick up.
Not to mention, the Steelers will have to part with at least one draft pick in a trade for the star cornerback.
Acquiring Ramsey isn't really a must, unless the team plans on deploying him in the slot upon arrival. Pittsburgh is already set at both boundary spots with Darius Slay and Joey Porter Jr., although the team does have a concern in the middle.
