Travis Hunter’s rookie season is done.

The two-way Jaguars player underwent successful surgery to repair a lateral collateral ligament injury in his right knee on Tuesday and will miss the remainder of the 2025 season, the Jaguars announced.

The team said there had not been any additional damage to Hunter’s knee, which he injured during a practice on Oct. 30. He had been put on the injured reserve list initially.

Hunter, 22, is “expected to return within six months to full football activities,” the team said.

The injury curtailed what could have been a turning point for the rookie after he played the best game of his young career against the Rams during the Week 7 matchup in London.

Hunter – the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner – made eight catches for 101 yards and a touchdown in the overseas game and it was trending toward the receiver/cornerback taking on a bigger role on offense for Jacksonville.

He’s made 28 total catches this season for 298 yards and a touchdown, and on the defensive side has 15 tackles and three pass breakups.

Hunter played 67 percent of offensive snaps this season and 36 percent on the defensive side.

Hunter was the Jags’ first-round pick – No. 2 overall – in the April draft.

Jacksonville traded up to take Hunter in, swapping picks with the Browns in the first round.

The Jaguars sent Cleveland a second-round pick in this year’s draft and a first-round pick in 2026 in order to move up.

Jacksonville (5-4) has been dealing with injuries to a number of receivers recently, with Brian Thomas Jr. suffering an ankle injury that kept him out of their Week 10 game and Dyami Brown suffering a concussion in Week 9.

They did make a move before the deadline to add receiver Jakobi Meyers to their receiver room.
