Jack Hughes wants his golden goal puck back from the Hockey Hall of Fame and called it “bulls–t” that the museum had it in the first place.
The puck Hughes scored during the Olympic gold medal game has been on display at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. The museum also has the one Megan Keller scored to lift the U.S. women’s hockey team to its own gold during the games in Milan.
Hughes now appears to be on a mission to get it back.
“I’m trying to get it. Like, that’s bulls–t that the Hockey Hall of Fame has it, in my opinion. Why would they have that puck?” he told ESPN on Tuesday.

The two pucks are part of an exhibit “Olympics’ 26” that also includes a Team USA jersey from Hilary Knight and Brady Tkachuk’s stick he used during the Winter Games.
Hughes ’ goal in overtime helped the U.S men’s hockey team win its first gold medal since the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid.
“These donated items represent defining moments on the world’s biggest stage and carry powerful stories of national pride and hockey history at its highest level,” Jamie Dinsmore, president and CEO of the Hockey Hall of Fame, told ESPN. “The Olympics ’26 display will help ensure that these unforgettable Olympic moments are preserved for our guests from around the world to experience.”
Hughes said he hadn’t found the time to reach out to the Hall of Fame, but “at some point I’ll get on it.”
The Devils star wants the puck not for himself, but for his father. Hughes said his dad, Jim, “would have a special place for it.”

“When I look back in time in my career, I don’t collect too many things for myself, but my dad’s a monster collector for the three of us. I know he would have a special place for it,” Hughes said.
