Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch took a jab at Lakers head coach JJ Redick during the live Zach Lowe Show. There, Finch expressed his opinions about podcasting in the NBA before mentioning Redick, who was a former podcaster before being hired as the Lakers head coach last year.

In his quip, Finch said that doing podcasts could qualify you as an NBA head coach.

“I mean… it will qualify you to coach the Lakers," he said.

The live shot happened in Minneapolis and saw appearances from analysts and Timberwolves guard Donte DiVicenzo, alongside Finch.

The Timberwolves faced the Lakers in last season's playoffs, where Minnesota won the series in five games.

Before becoming a head coach, Redick hosted podcasts such as "The Young Man and The Three," and the "Mind the Game" podcast, where he was the co-host of Lakers star LeBron James.

Redick replaced then-Lakers head coach Darvin Ham, who spent two seasons with the team.

In his first year as a head coach, Redick led the Lakers to the third seed in the Western Conference, posting a 50-32 record.

This season, the Lakers are currently 8-4, while the Timberwolves are 7-4.

Chris Finch recalls the time when he coached JJ Redick in New Orleans

Chris Finch once coached JJ Redick during their time with the New Orleans Pelicans. During the playoff matchup last season, Finch, who was then an assistant coach with the Pelicans, looked back on their time together in New Orleans.

"It was interesting to coach JJ because I learned a lot from him. I never coached the shooter at that level," Finch said. "He imparted a lot of tricks of the trade, things that he needed that he had seen through his career. So it’s like anything else, you always learned from really good players." "So, not surprised that he’s had success. He’s got a very sharp basketball mind, relates to people extremely well. He’s super competitive. He has all the DNA.”

The two are expected to see more matchups against each other this year as they are seen to be contenders this season.
