Former Real Madrid player Pedja Mijatovic has urged Los Blancos to sell Vinicius Jr. He believes that the club should not bow down to the Brazilian winger's demands and also take away their contract offer.

Speaking to Cadena SER (via Marca), Mijatovic said that Vinicius Jr is not interested in renewing his deal and is demanding massive wages like Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi because he does not want to make the fans think he was against the renewal. He added that the club should part ways with the winger and said:

“Real Madrid always has to be above any player, any footballing character, because it is the biggest club in the world. If Vinicius closes himself to the renewal, Real Madrid have to do everything possible to transfer him. You cannot, under any circumstances, allow a player or their representatives to manage you." “If Vinicius is now asking for Mbappé’s contract or Messi’s, it is because he does not want to renew. It’s clear, we’re not children. And if he wants to finish the contract, that’s okay, Madrid always have to be on top.”

Vinicius Jr and Real Madrid have been in contract talks for months, but are yet to reach an agreement. The winger is keen on staying, but wants wages close to teammate Kylian Mbappe, but the club are unwilling to match his demands.

Real Madrid told to sell Vinicius Jr and sign a striker by former player

Pedja Mijatovic is not the only former Real Madrid star to call for the club to sell Vinicius Jr. Former Los Blancos midfielder Luis Milla also made similar claims earlier this year, telling El Desmarque that the club's best move would be to sell the Brazilian and use the funds to get a striker.

He believes that Kylian Mbappe should be playing off the left wing and said (via Tribal Football):

"If I were a sporting director, I would sell Vinicius and buy a striker to allow (Kylian) Mbappé to play on the left wing. Vini is a great player, but the club must also consider the image he transmits. Yes, his performances are at a high level, but his image is not always the best. He has a significant market value and Madrid could reinvest that money in big purchases."

Saudi Pro League sides are interested in signing Vinicius Jr, but have not made an offer for the Brazilian yet.
