There hasn’t been much good news for the New Orleans Pelicans this season, but they got some ahead of their matchup with the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night. Star forward Zion Williamson is not listed on the official injury report for the game, and so he’ll be available to play in the game.

Zion Williamon available for first career matchup with Cooper Flagg

It will be the second consecutive game played for Williamson after he missed the previous eight games with a hamstring injury.

On the other side of things, the Mavericks also got some good news ahead of the game, as star rookie Cooper Flagg will also be available to play after missing the first game of his care due to illness against the New York Knicks on Wednesday night.

So, we’re in store for the first career matchup between Williamson and Flagg – two former Duke Blue Devils, two top picks in the draft and two of the most highly-hyped prospects in recent memory.

The game between Dallas and New Orleans will be the second of the season, as the Pelicans pulled out a 101-99 win over the Mavericks earlier this month. However, Williamson wasn’t available for the game.

Both teams currently sit in the basement of the Western Conference standings. The Pelicans are dead last with a 2-13 record, while the Mavs are 13th with a record of 4-12. Together, their combined record is 6-25.

So while the game might not be a playoff preview, it will still be cool to see the first ever matchup between two of the bigger names to come out of college basketball in recent years.
