Is Travis Pastrana racing in the Daytona 500? Explaining how X Games legend is competing in NASCAR

Travis Pastrana is getting back in a car at Daytona International Speedway.

Fans have seen that news and are wondering whether the X Games legend, who has proven he can drive all sorts of vehicles, will be out there on Sunday at the Daytona 500.

Instead, his plans are just a little different.

Is Travis Pastrana racing in the Daytona 500?

No, Travis Pastrana won't be in the field for the Daytona 500.

He does race this weekend, though, just in the NASCAR Trucks Series.

The trucks race on Friday night, and that's when Pastrana will be out there.

Pastrana hasn't competed in a NASCAR race since the 2023 Daytona 500.

After a late crash, Pastrana finished 11th in that race, and he said afterward he wouldn't race in a NASCAR Cup Series race again.

Apparently that didn't apply for the trucks, who compete in the Fresh From Florida 250 on Friday night.

What truck number is Travis Pastrana?

Travis Pastrana is riding Friday night in the No. 42 Chevrolet belonging to Niece Motorsports.

He'll be sponsored by Brunt Workwear. 

“I’m excited to get back on the track in Daytona with Brunt Workwear and Niece Motorsports,” Pastrana said in a team release. “This is my first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race since 2023, so it will be fun to get behind the wheel again and see what we can do."

How old is Travis Pastrana?

Pastrana is 42 years old.

He's an 11-time X Games gold medalist. And he just wants to get out there and compete again.
