The first round of the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff is in the books, setting the stage for four thrilling quarterfinal matchups. But fans will have to wait a little longer, as the next round doesn’t begin until Tuesday, Dec. 31.

However, this weekend’s consolation prize is pretty good: Saturday will be the busiest day of the bowl season, with an eight-game slate on the docket.

Some of the best players in college football will take the field on Saturday, too. Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter and two future first-round picks — quarterbacks Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders — poised to play in their final collegiate game.

The Sporting News has you covered with everything that you need to know about Saturday’s college football action.
