Is the ‘Freaky Tales’ Pedro Pascal Movie Streaming on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video?

Oakland, California was pretty freaky in the year 1987, and now moviegoers can experience that for themselves with Freaky Tales, the new action comedy coming to theaters this weekend.

Written and directed by filmmaking duo Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Freaky Tales is an anthology film that follows four different, interconnected tales that all take place during real historical events in 1987 in Oakland. There’s the three teenage punks (Ji-young Yoo, Marteen, and Jack Champion) who catch an Operation Ivy show at an iconic Oakland venue. There’s a rap battle between a hip-hop legend (played by MC Symba) and a pair of minimum wageworkers (Normani and Dominique Thorne). There’s a ruthless debt collector (Pedro Pascal) trying to change his ways. And there’s a man (played by former NBA star Sleepy Floyd) seeking revenge for a break-in.

Freaky Tales first premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival over a year ago, and now, the film is finally opening in theaters. If you want to check it out, here’s what to know about where to watch Freaky Tales, and when we expect to see the Freaky Tales movie streaming online.

Where to watch the Freaky Tales movie:

For now, Freaky Tales will only available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in theaters in the U.S. on Friday, April 4. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. Freaky Tales is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.

Is the Freaky Tales movie streaming on Netflix or Amazon Prime?

Freaky Tales is not streaming on Netflix right now. That said, Freaky Tales is a Lionsgate release, and another recent Lionsgate release, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, began streaming on Netflix after two-and-a-half-months in theaters. So maybe you’ll see Freaky Tales on Netflix in about two and a half months, around late June 2025.

You will be able to purchase Freaky Tales on Amazon Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, but you will not be able to stream Freaky Tales on Prime Video free with a Prime subscription any time soon, because it is not a Prime original movie. If you want to watch the Freaky Tales movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms.

Is Freaky Tales streaming on Starz?

Freaky Tales is not yet streaming on Starz. You might see Freaky Tales on Starz this year, because it is a Lionsgate film, and Lionsgate recently extended its output deal with Starz, despite the fact the studios are still planning to separate. Supposedly, under the new terms of the deal, Starz will have exclusive rights to Lionsgate films post-theaters, and that the window will now come sooner after the movie’s theatrical run.

But in practice, the recent Lionsgate films don’t seem to be streaming on Starz at an accelerated rate. The 2025 Lionsgate film Den of Thieves 2: Pantera began streaming on Netflix about two-and-a-half months after opening in theaters, and yet the movie is still not streaming on Starz. So, that’s confusing!

Last year, many Lionsgate films went to digital after two-and-a-half weeks in theaters, and began streaming on Starz about four and a half months after the movie opened in the theaters. If Freaky Tales follows the same release pattern, you might see the movie on digital in about two-and-a-half weeks, and on Starz in about four and a half months, which would be around late August 2025.

But clearly, not all Lionsgate movies are following that strategy in 2025. Right now, we don’t have a clear look at Lionsgate’s 2025 release strategy. If you want to see Freaky Tales right away, you should go watch it in a movie theater.
