One of the best-reviewed films out of the Sundance Film Festival this year, The Ballad of Wallis Island, is now available to watch in movie theaters. So what are you waiting for?

Directed by James Griffiths, with a screenplay by comedians Tim Key and Tom Basden (who also star in the. movie), this quirky British comedy tells the story of an eccentric lottery winner named Charles (Key) who decides to use his money to get his favorite musical duo (played by Tom Basden & Carey Mulligan) to reunite at his home on a remote British Island. Finally, a rich person who does something interesting with their money! But old tensions between the bandmates resurface, and Charles is forced to mediate to ensure his dream show can go on.

Also starring Sian Clifford and Akemnji Ndifornyen, The Ballad of Wallis Island sounds like a fun, whimsical, British comedy to soothe the soul. Read on for all the information about where to watch The Ballad of Wallis Island and when we expect to see The Ballad of Wallis Island streaming online.

Where to watch The Ballad of Wallis Island movie:

The Ballad of Wallis Island movie is only be available to watch in a movie theater right now. The film opened in select theaters on March 28, and will open in more theaters nationwide on April 18. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. The Ballad of Wallis Island is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.

Is The Ballad of Wallis Island movie streaming on Netflix, HBO Max, or Amazon Prime?

The Ballad of Wallis Island is not streaming on Netflix or HBO’s Max, and likely will not be on Netflix or Max any time soon, due to the fact that the film is a Focus Features release. Focus Features is a subsidiary of Universal Studios, and almost all Universal movies go to the Universal-owned streaming platform, Peacock.

You will be able to purchase The Ballad of Wallis Island on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, but you will not be able to stream The Ballad of Wallis Island on Prime Video free with a Prime subscription. If you want to watch The Ballad of Wallis Island movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms, or wait for it to stream on Peacock.

When will The Ballad of Wallis Island be streaming on Peacock?

The Ballad of Wallis Island is not yet streaming on Peacock. Right now, the movie is only in theaters. That said, we do expect to see The Ballad of Wallis Island streaming on Peacock eventually, but we’re not sure when. Another Focus Features/Universal release, Conclave, was released on digital after about one month in theaters, and it began streaming on Peacock on December 13—about a month-and-a-half after opening in theaters, and about two weeks after releasing on digital.

If The Ballad of Wallis Island follows a similar release pattern, you might see the movie on digital by mid-May 2025, and streaming on Peacock around late May or early June 2025. However, other Universal movies have been pushed to digital after just two-and-a-half weeks in theaters, so you might see The Ballad of Wallis Island online even sooner.

This is all speculation. Universal has not had a consistent release strategy for home media. If you want to watch the 2025 The Ballad of Wallis Island movie right away, you can catch the movie in theaters.
