The Detroit Lions have a tough matchup against the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium on Monday night and will need all of their key offensive contributors to step up, including tight end Sam LaPorta.
LaPorta had a historic rookie campaign in 2023 and immediately put himself on the map as one of the best tight ends in the NFL. The Iowa product took a step back in production in 2024, but was still one of the most productive players at his position.
So far in the Week 3 game against the Ravens, LaPorta has been quiet.
Here's a closer look at what's going on with the young tight end.
Is Sam LaPorta playing tonight?
Yes, LaPorta is active and playing tonight, he just hasn't been targeted in the passing game yet.
On the Lions' first drive, quarterback Jared Goff threw passes to Jameson Williams, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jahmyr Gibbs, and the Lions ran the ball six times, so LaPorta didn't have much of a chance to get going.
Hopefully that will change soon.
