Is Mikey Williams in NBA Summer League? What's next for former high-profile recruit after Sac State

1 hour ago 3

Mikey Williams' basketball journey has been a lot more winding than anyone anticipated.

His chances of the NBA are still uncertain, too, for a guy who was once a super high-profile recruit.

Williams has been hanging around NBA players a bit lately, including in a recent workout with Davion Mitchell of the Miami Heat, and with a courtside seat alongside Sacramento State coach Mike Bibby at NBA Summer League action at the California Classic.

Williams, though, isn't at Sac State anymore, and he's not in the NBA either.

Is Mikey Williams in NBA Summer League?

Williams is not playing in Summer League.

In fact, he hasn't yet entered the NBA.

He still has seemingly two years of college eligibility left, and at least as far is publicly known, he remains in the transfer portal.

He just averaged 17.1 points and 4.5 assists per game for Sac State. But he also shot just 36.3% from the floor and 26.5% from beyond the arc.

Williams originally committed to Memphis out of high school, but he never played for the Tigers. Gun charges led to him entering the transfer portal. He eventually pled guilty to one misdemeanor.

The 6-foot-3 Williams ended up at UCF, and in 2024-25, he averaged 5.1 points per game.

He was once ranked the No. 1 player in his class when he was in eighth grade. He had more than three million followers on Instagram before his junior year of high school.

Now? Williams apparently is too iffy for a big program to pursue in the transfer portal.

It's uncertain what might be next for him.
