1 hour ago 2

The Los Angeles Lakers are still waiting for clarity on Luka Doncic’s status as they prepare to face the Golden State Warriors. After a scary moment Thursday night, Doncic’s availability remains very much up in the air.

Luka Doncic left the Lakers’ game against the Philadelphia 76ers late in the second quarter with left leg soreness and never returned. Since then, the focus has shifted to whether the Lakers’ star will be able to suit up against Golden State.

What happened to Luka Doncic?

The injury occurred midway through the second quarter after Doncic was double-teamed and turned the ball over. As play moved the other way, he reached for the back of his left leg and appeared uncomfortable. After a timeout, he walked to the locker room and was eventually ruled out for the rest of the night.

Doncic finished with 10 points, four rebounds, and two assists in 16 minutes. He was visibly frustrated as he exited the court, kicking the scorer’s table and lingering in the tunnel before disappearing into the locker room.

Latest injury update

Following the game, Lakers head coach JJ Redick said it was too early to know if the issue was serious. Redick confirmed that Doncic felt soreness in his hamstring and that the team chose to hold him out as a precaution.

Doncic is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his left hamstring, which will provide more clarity on whether the soreness is minor or something that could force him to miss time.

Is Luka Doncic playing vs. the Warriors?

As of now, there is no official answer. Doncic has not been ruled in or out and is best described as a game-time decision. His status will likely depend on the MRI results and how his leg responds over the next several hours.

The Lakers are set to host the Golden State Warriors, and given Doncic’s importance, the team is expected to be cautious rather than push him back too quickly.

What this means for the Lakers

Doncic entered Thursday night leading the NBA in scoring with 33.4 points per game. He has been the driving force behind the Lakers’ offense. If he cannot go, more responsibility would fall on LeBron James and Austin Reaves to carry the load.

For now, Lakers fans will have to wait. Until the MRI results are known and the final injury report is released, Luka Doncic’s status against the Warriors remains one of the biggest questions of the night.
