Paraguay will now await the winner of France vs. Sweden for their Round of 16 matchup. The German players, however, will have a lackluster start to their summer break before league play resumes near the end of summer.

What's next for Germany?

With the hope of lifting the 2026 World Cup trophy out of the picture now, the German players will end their international soccer duties and go on their summer breaks. Near the end of summer, league play will resume. In soccer, league play refers to when players return to their professional clubs and play for their league's trophy.

The next chance for Germany's international team to win a trophy will be at the 2028 Euro tournament, which will be jointly hosted by England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.

Germany's team is still relatively young, with a few exceptions. Captain Joshua Kimmich will be 33 at the time of the 2028 Euro tournament, while goalkeeper Manuel Neuer will be 42 and likely off Nationalelf ("The National Eleven").
