Is Colorado in the College Football Playoff? Latest ranking for Buffaloes in 2024 CFP bracket poll

2 hours ago 1

In just the second year under Deion Sanders, Colorado has the potential for a College Football Playoff run that many wouldn't have predicted back in August.

Thanks to the new 12-team bracket format, the Buffs have a real chance to make the postseason — as long as they keep winning. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders and Heisman favorite Travis Hunter have been putting together a convincing campaign, securing their third consecutive win over the weekend in impressive fashion against Texas Tech.

The Buffaloes have been slowly climbing the ranks. Here's everything you need to know about their latest chances for the College Football Playoff.

Is Colorado in the College Football Playoff?

As of right now, the Buffaloes would not make the 12-team cutoff, but they do have a clear path to change that fate over the next couple of weeks.

In the second College Football Playoff poll released on Nov. 12, Colorado jumped three spots from No. 20 to No. 17. More important, though, is their standing in the Big 12.

Currently, the Buffs are second only to No. 6-ranked BYU (6-0). If they win their final three conference matchups against Utah, Kansas, and Oklahoma State, they would then face off with the Cougars in the Big 12 Championship.

Whoever wins that matchup would punch their ticket to the College Football Playoff as an automatic Group of Five qualifier.
