Iowa high school names new activities director

Trever Ryen did a number of things while attending Iowa State University from playing football to running track for the Cyclones. Now, the Ida Grove native and OABCIG High School graduate will return to the prep ranks.

Ryen was officially hired as the new activities director at South Hamilton Community School District during a board meeting earlier this week.

From 2014-17, Ryen played for Matt Campbell and Iowa State, recording 102 receptions for 1,048 yards and four touchdowns while also racking up 86 yards rushing and another TD. He also handled return duties, ranking in the Top 20 in the nation on punt returns while earning honorable mention all-Big 12.

Ryen attended the same high school, OABCIG, as current Philadelphia Eagles star and former Iowa Hawkeye Cooper DeJean. He was a standout for the Falcons, rushing for almost 1,300 yards with 19 TDs as a senior.

After winning four state track titles in 2013, Ryen went to the University of Northern Iowa to compete in track. He left for Iowa State, taking a redshirt in 2014. 

For the last five years, Ryen as been an assistant strength and conditioning coach for Iowa State's football program.
