One of the top boys basketball players in Illinois could be crossing the river to play for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Reigning Gatorade Illinois Player of the Year Jaxson Davis has received an offer from Ben McCollum.

Davis, a member of the Class of 2027, is a 6-foot-1, 180-pound guard from Gurnee, Illinois. 247Sports has him as the top player in his state and the 66th player overall in the country.

Last year at Warren Township High School, Davis averaged 19.4 points with six assists, over four rebounds and nearly three steals per game. The Blue Devils reached the Class 4A title game, going 27-11 overall.

McCollum used the transfer portal to fill out his roster for this coming year, bringing over Drake's Bennett Stirtz and several other key players. But with time to scour the country, it is obvious that he wants to build from the high school ranks moving forward.

But he will have competition for the services of Davis. Currently, the senior-to-be holds offers from Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Purdue, and as the recruiting landscape continues to unfold, he could pick up more offers.
