Insider reveals Ravens QB Lamar Jackson's likely return date

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is likely to return to action after the team's upcoming bye week, according to insider Tom Pelissero. Jackson has been sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Pelissero offered an update on Jackson's status during Sunday's NFL GameDay broadcast. He said that while the injury has kept Jackson out once again, it is not expected to be long-term.

"He has been in the building rehabbing," Pelissero said, adding that the team is hopeful Jackson will be back after the bye week.

The Ravens have the bye in Week 7. Jackson's likely return will be against the Chicago Bears in Week 8.

In Jackson's absence, the Ravens have relied on backup quarterback Cooper Rush, whose skill set differs from Jackson's. This presents challenges for the Ravens, as much of their offensive system was tailored to Jackson's unique abilities, particularly his quarterback run threat and playmaking in space.

Pelissero explained, "When you take away the quarterback run threat, all the things he can do in space, the entire offense becomes more predictable, including the run packages with Derrick Henry."

In Sunday afternoon's game vs. the Los Angeles Rams, Rush will again start for Baltimore.

The Ravens will see some returning reinforcements against the Rams. Pelissero reported that left tackle Ronnie Stanley is back in the lineup, while wide receiver Zay Flowers, who is listed as questionable with a shoulder injury, might be limited but is expected to play.
