The New York Knicks can swing in the trade market to grab Anthony Davis. As crazy as that idea might sound, NBA insider Ian Begley believes that the Knicks can shop for the 10-time All-Star despite his terrible injury record.
On Sunday, Begley reported that the Knicks are serious about winning a championship this season and are willing to acquire all the pieces they believe are crucial in turning that ambition into reality. The insider broke the news in an article for "SNY".
"I’m sure the Knicks would at least check in with Dallas if/when Anthony Davis becomes available. You may scoff at the idea, but the Knicks want to win a title this season. If Dallas is offering Davis at a below-market cost, I’m sure the Knicks will at least give the move some thought," Begley wrote.•

Anthony Davis arrived in Dallas last season in exchange for Luka Doncic going to LA. However, things have not gone in favor of the 10-time All-Star since his arrival. Davis has been dealing with repeated injuries that keep him sidelined.
He played only nine games for the Mavs last season. The situation remains the same this season, as Davis got sidelined with a calf injury after playing just five games.
The only scenario in which the Knicks could extract value by acquiring Anthony Davis is if they acquire him at a price below his market value. Additionally, they would need to use him as a bench option for now, rather than a starter, due to his poor injury record over the last two years.
Mark Cuban believes the Mavs won't trade Anthony Davis
After the Maveicks' owner, Patrick Dumont, fired the franchise's previous general manager, Nico Harrison, rumors about Anthony Davis getting traded flooded the community. However, Mavs minority owner Mark Cuban believes that Davis is not going anywhere.
On Wednesday, Cuban told "The Athletic" via email that the Mavs have no intention of trading their 10-time All-Star.
"We won’t. We want to try to win," he said.Davis is averaging 20.8 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists in five games on 52.0% shooting. When he is on the floor, the Mavericks look like a different team. He dominates the paint, becomes a viable lob pass option, and draws in defenders to get open looks for his teammates.
Right now, the Mavs (5-13) are one of the worst teams in the league. They are in 13th place in the Western Conference standings.
