Insider offers sound advice to Deion Sanders over Shedeur's Browns career

17 hours ago 3

Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders came into the NFL as a larger-than-life person after his time in college, and his father, Deion, has also been a vocal supporter of his son.

But for some, that is putting a target on Shedeur's back as he enters the NFL, and we know that Deion has his own views on certain things, plus reports of Deion wanting to meet with Todd Monken about how to coach his son, which, for most, isn't the best idea.

So, there is a lot of noise around Shedeur, but none is coming from him.

And in Albert Breer's "quick hitters" in his latest piece for Sports Illustrated, he offered a bit of advice to Deion about his son in the NFL.

"I think Shedeur Sanders will be better off if his father, Deion, leaves well enough alone and allows his son to set his own path with a new coaching staff," Breer wrote.

Sanders facing big 2026 season

All of the outside noise aside from Deion, Shedeur is facing a crucial offseason under Monken, and one that, if things go well, he could easily be the starter come Week 1.

The focus has to be on football, not the outside noise, and yes, the Sanders name carries a lot of weight in the football world, as it should, but I get the sense that maybe that noise is getting a little too loud right now.

Especially about a player entering their second NFL season, who didn't set the world on fire either.

So maybe Breer is right. Maybe it is time for Deion to take a step back and allow Shedeur to be Shedeur without all the extra noise and attention.
