A day after it was reported that Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt parted ways, new details have emerged.
A source told People on Friday that the “Saturday Night Live” alum and model — who welcomed daughter Scottie in December — would “like to be friends and do things together, but it’s difficult to think about getting to that place right now.”
The source added that behind the scenes, Davidson and Hewitt are “not getting along” following the birth of their daughter.
“They were already struggling a bit while Elsie was pregnant,” the insider continued. “Things just happened so quickly between them and they didn’t know each other very well.”
Davidson, 32, and Hewitt, 30 are said to be “trying to work through” how they’ll “be able to co-parent” their infant daughter after pulling the plug on their relationship.
“She’s not fighting Pete on seeing the baby, but it’s not smooth sailing,” the source said of the emerging post-split dynamic.
They called the “King of Staten Island” star a “softie” who does “want to be with the woman he has a child with.”
“It’s not totally out of the question,” they explained, noting that the “split was mutual.”
Reps for Davidson and Hewitt did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment on Friday evening.

On Thursday, the Sun reported that Davidson’s busy schedule had factored into the split. “Pete has been traveling so much for work, but Elsie was craving more support from him at home after their daughter was born,” a source told the outlet.
“It was very hard for him because, obviously, he has to work to make money,” they explained.
Another source told the outlet that the split had happened recently, and that they are now “just focusing 100% on Scottie.”
The alleged breakup apparently didn’t come out of the blue — a source told Page Six earlier in May that the duo was “navigating relationship struggles” and that it was “unclear” how things might pan out for them.
Hewitt and Davidson first publicly flaunted their whirlwind romance with a PDA-packed vacation in Palm Beach in March 2025, with the model debuting her baby bump in a triumphant July 2025 Instagram upload.
The couple enjoyed a bunny-themed baby shower before welcoming Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson on Dec. 12, with Hewitt labeling the infant their “perfect angel girl” via Instagram.
The “Bupkis” star has made no secret over the years about his desire to raise a family of his own. “[I’m] definitely a family guy,” he told Kevin Hart on “Hart to Heart” in 2022.
“My favorite thing ever — which I’ve yet to achieve — is I want to have a kid,” the actor divulged, adding that he was “so excited for that chapter.”
