Nicole Kidman Addresses New “Direction” Amid Keith Urban Breakup
The number of people engrossed in Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's divorce drama is way more than nine perfect strangers.
Indeed, it feels like the internet is tracking practically every move the Oscar winner and the country music singer have made since their split was revealed on Sept. 29.
Of course, it's no big little lie that Kidman has been booked and busy. Just one day after she filed for divorce from Urban on Sept. 30, she went hiking with her sister Antonia Kidman in Nashville. The Moulin Rouge! star then attended the amfAR Dallas fundraising gala in Texas on Oct. 4, where she presented Taylor Sheridan (the creator of her show Lioness) with the Award of Inspiration.
Two days later, Kidman popped up at Chanel’s Paris Fashion Week show. And the fashion house's global brand ambassador brought along not only a new ‘do—debuting her fresh fringe bangs—but also the two daughters she shares with Urban: 17-year-old Sunday Rose (who walked in the Dior show earlier that week) and 14-year-old Faith Margaret.
"Thank you @chanelofficial for having me and my girls," Kidman wrote on Instagram Oct. 7 in what was her first post since her divorce filing, going on to give a shout-out to the brand's artistic director Matthieu Blazy. "So excited to be a part of it with you @matthieu_blazy."
Although, The Hours actress admittedly had some jitters before arriving at the event.
"I’m just very nervous actually," she told Vogue in a getting ready video. "I have my daughters coming with me. But I’m very excited for Matthieu because this is a big moment for him. So to be able to celebrate him with his first show with Chanel and the beginning of an incredible journey together, it’s exciting, right?"
Though given the media frenzy around her divorce, few could blame Kidman for the nerves. From insight on her and Urban’s salaries to details of their custody arrangement, several aspects of the former couple’s breakup have been thrust into the spotlight.

Neither star has publicly commented on what led to the undoing of their 19-year marriage, Kidman merely citing "irreconcilable differences" in the divorce docs. However, E! News learned she did not want to part ways with Urban and initially tried to save their marriage before filing for divorce.
While the Babygirl alum had been wearing her since-ditched engagement ring just days before news of their split broke, it appears her union with the “You’ll Think of Me” artist had been unraveling before. Not only had Kidman and Urban already come up with a divorce agreement and parenting plan—he signed off on the documents Aug. 29 and she followed suit eight days later—but she’d also alluded to starting a new chapter in her recently released Vogue cover story.
Interviewed weeks before the split announcement, the 58-year-old was asked about life in her sixth decade, replying, "How many times do you have to be taught that you think you know where your life is going and then it isn’t going in that direction?”

So, as she navigates this next phase of her life, Kidman remains focused on her work. And Urban is following a similar roadmap.
The Grammy winner—who's also been spotted without his wedding ring—has been on his High and Alive Tour. And concertgoers couldn’t help but notice he made some changes to his music.
While performing "The Fighter" (a song he's said was inspired by the promises he made Kidman at the start of their relationship) with guitarist Maggie Baugh at one show, Urban changed the lyrics from “When they’re tryna get you, baby, I’ll be the fighter," to "When they tryna get you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player." The switch-up even seemed to surprise Maggie, who posted a video of the moment to Instagram Sept. 27 and wrote, "Did he just say that?"
Still, Urban hasn’t changed everything amid his divorce. According to People, the 57-year-old kept a photo of Kidman and their daughters in a slideshow that played during his performace of "Heart Like a Hometown" in Hershey, Penn., Oct. 2.

The country singer raised eyebrows when he abruptly ended an interview after being asked about Kidman's onscreen chemistry with costar Zac Efron in A Family Affair.
“The first thing I thought of with your beautiful wife, Nicole Kidman, being on so many great movies, TV shows all the time,” a radio host said on Australia’s Mix 102.3’s Hayley & Max in the Morning. “What does Keith Urban think when he sees his beautiful wife with beautiful younger men like Zac Efron having these beautiful love scenes on TV and radio?”
Suddenly, Urban disappeared from the call.
“He's disconnected from Zoom,” a radio staffer said. “I think his team hung up on us because they didn't want us to ask that question.”
His rep didn't respond to E!'s request for comment at the time.

July 24, 2025: It's Revealed That Nicole Kidman Applied for Residency in Portugal
E! News learned that the Practical Magic star had submitted application to become a resident of Portugal, with Urban preparing to do the same himself.
“Keith was unable to be in Portugal for this appointment as he is currently on tour in the U.S.," a source with knowledge of the situation told E!, "and it is mandatory for applicants to be physically present in order to apply for the visa. He is scheduled to submit his application at a later date that works with his tour schedule."
At the time, the source said both planned to maintain a permanent residence in Nashville as well.

Aug. 6, 2025: Sunday Rose Shares Insight Into Family Life
The couple's eldest daughter Sunday Rose shed light on on their parenting dynamic in an interview, saying that "there are two big rules" at home.

Aug. 28, 2025: Nicole Kidman's Lawyer Prepares Parenting Plan
In August, her lawyer prepared a Child Support Worksheet included in a Parenting Plan stating that Kidman and Urban would be "joint custodians" of their teen daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.
However, the Oscar winner was listed as the "primary residential parent," with the girls spending 306 days a year with their mother and 59 days with their father (Urban will have the children every other weekend.).
Neither will pay child support, according to the doc obtained by E! News.
“The mother and father will behave with each other and each child so as to provide a loving, stable, consistent and nurturing relationship with the child even though they are divorced,” it stated. “They will not speak badly of each other or the members of the family of the other parent. They will encourage each child to continue to love the other parent and be comfortable in both families.”

Aug. 29, 2025: Keith Urban Signs Paperwork
Urban moved forward with their Marital Dissolution Agreement, getting it notorized in August, per the doc obtained by E! News.
The document said that Kidman would "institute divorce proceedings against" him due to irreconcilable differences. It also stated that neither party would be getting alimony or spousal support in their split.
The same date, he also signed off on the Parenting Plan.

Sept. 6, 2025: Nicole Kidman Signs Paperwork
A week after Urban, the actress had the Marital Dissolution Agreement notorized as well and signed the Parenting Plan.
The same day, a judge signed off on an order that both stars would complete a manditory parenting seminar unless they file for an exemption, per the doc obtained by E! News.
