1 hour ago 2

The 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan have delivered some incredible moments in figure skating so far. From the U.S. winning gold in the team event, to France's Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron winning gold in ice dance.

One of the main commentators for NBC's coverage is Johnny Weir, along with Tara Lipinski and Terry Gannon. The trio has covered four Olympics together in the booth. But on the ice, Weir was an Olympic figure skater himself.

Let's take a look at Weir's two Olympics, and his skating career overall.

Johnny Weir figure skating career timeline

Johnny Weir's skating career started in the early-2000s. He had a long competitive skating career, which lasted until he retired in 2013.

World Junior title

In 2001, Johnny Weir won his first-ever figure skating title in his career, at the World Junior Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria. He was just 16 years old at the time, and became the first American to win since Derrick Delmore in 1998, and just tenth American overall to win at the event.

U.S. Championships

From 2004-2006, Weir won three straight U.S. titles and became the youngest male skater at 19 (2004) to win the event since Todd Eldgredge in 1991.

He defended his title in 2005, entering the season ranked seventh in the world. He won in Portland after beating out American Timothy Goebel and became the first skater to repeat at U.S. Nationals since Michael Weiss did so in 1999 and 2000.

In 2006, Weir successfully won U.S. Nationals for a third-straight time, becoming the first skater to do so since Brian Boitano won four straight U.S. Championships from 1985-1988.

He won the silver at the 2008 U.S. Nationals in Saint Paul, and took home bronze in both 2007 and 2010.

World Championships

Weir won a bronze medal in the 2008 World Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden. He finished third behind skaters Stephane Lambiel and Brian Joubert, as Weir was dealing with back pain throughout the event.

Grand Prix finals

Weir took home two bronze medals during the 2008-09 Grand Prix in Goyang and 2009-10 in Tokyo.
