Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Feels Most Beautiful When...
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley realized quite early on that Jason Statham's place in her life was anything but expendable.
Meeting at a 2009 party in London, Huntington-Whiteley revealed in a 2020 Instagram Story, "It was instant chemistry."
And though the action star's physical attributes are hard to miss, they weren't what had her reaching out to a pal the following morning.
"I remember calling my friend the next day," the 39-year-old reflected to Elle UK in 2021, "and just being like, 'Wow, he's so unexpectedly not who I thought he'd be. He's so grounded and humble, he's really fun and charismatic and energetic.' Those were all things I just wasn't expecting about him and what drew me to him."
By that point, Statham, next up in August's thriller Mutiny, had already teamed with Brad Pitt and director Guy Ritchie for 2000's Snatch, appeared alongside Charlize Theron and Mark Wahlberg in 2003's The Italian Job and filmed three-quarters of his Transporter franchise.
But, "he didn't act until he was well into his thirties," Huntington-Whiteley explained, "so he had this big chunk of life where he was a painters and decorator and he was on the door of clubs and he was on the market stall, trading."
His years of cobbling it all together meant "he's got that real groundedness," she summed up of Statham, celebrating his 59th birthday July 26, "and I love the fact he will pass that on to our child as well."
Not that the two had raced their way to that particular milestone.
Rather they put in the work to build that foundation, their official hard-launch coming at the 2011 Vanity Fair Oscars party, followed by a trip up the Met Gala steps months later, mere weeks before she made her big screen debut in Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
Her leap to the big screen had come on rather, er, fast and furious. "I got a phone call," she recounted to Glamour in 2013. "I had an audition. Three weeks later I was on set." But, like Statham, she spent her formative years strutting her way to success.

"My mum drilled into me from a young age that life doesn’t hand you stuff on a plate," she explained to Elle UK. "It might, but that’s if you’re lucky. And even then you’ve got to work really hard to make sure that something else will come your way."
In June 2017, that little something was eldest son Jack.
"I took a bit of time off and had my baby; I tried to take the time at home to enjoy those first special months with my family," she explained to Harper's Bazaar Arabia the following March. "I have a wonderful personal life with lots of love and fun."
And it's one that can be tough to leave behind. Whereas in the past she wouldn't hesitate to hop on a plane for a job, "When you have a baby, your whole life changes," Huntington-Whiteley noted. As such, she continued, "I don't think there's any such thing as balance. Something is always compromised. You can't have it all."
Not that she resented her new homebody status.
While "it really took me a long time" to adjust to this change, she said, "I think once I stepped into the role, embraced it, everything sort of relaxed a little bit."
Though she attributes much of that shift to their decision to move back across the pond after welcoming daughter Isabella in February 2022.
"We'd leave our home in LA and there'd be five cars following us down the block to the gym," she explained to The Telegraph in 2024. "Both Jason and I felt like it was really important for our children to not be impacted by our line of work."
To that end, "We made a rule that we wouldn't share their faces on social media, and we're not going to walk down the red carpet with them."
They are willing to provide peeks into their travels, Huntington-Whiteley showing off a January ski trip in Austria with her 20 million Instagram followers and a 2024 yacht outing.
Beyond that, they're keeping calm and carrying on with the help of their built-in village.
"In the summer we go down to Devon, and our children have the same experiences running around on the farm that I had growing up, and it’s very special," she raved to The Sunday Times in April 2025 of her tiny Brits. (Yes, they've adopted Mom and Dad's accent.)
As for Statham, he's able to clock in for most of his films locally.
"He goes to work and comes home at the end of the day, which is pretty special for somebody in his line of work," Huntington-Whiteley noted. And he's every bit as active as he is on his movie sets. "I call him the human playground," she added, "because he’s constantly got the kids on his back, rolling around. He’s so playful."

Meanwhile, she's homed in on making magic for their crew.
Between school runs, trips to the park and the nightly bedtime routine, she explained during a 2024 appearance on the Reign with Josh Smith podcast, "It's finding those little things where you build that connection with them every day."
As for life's bigger moments, "Maybe one day," she mused to The Sunday Times of their eventual wedding plans. "It's not something that's ever been massively important to me. Throwing a big fancy wedding is not something I feel is necessary at this point in my life. If we do, it will be low-key."
And when it comes to the photos, as Statham joked with E! in 2016, "You'll be the last to see them!" But will you accept this collection of sweet family snaps?
