Where is AT&T Stadium?

AT&T Stadium is located in Arlington, Texas, between the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth.

How much did AT&T Stadium cost to build?

The venue's construction cost was originally estimated at $650 million, but became $1.15 billion, making it one of the most expensive sports venues ever built at the time. The stadium is also currently undergoing a $295 million renovation in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Is AT&T Stadium the largest stadium in the NFL by capacity?

AT&T Stadium can seat 80,000 people for sporting events, making it the third largest in the NFL behind MetLife Stadium and Lambeau Field, but it can be reconfigured to hold over 100,000 people, making it the largest by total capacity.

Special features of AT&T Stadium

The spacious stadium is filled with a number of amenities, described below from the Cowboys' official website:

  • The stadium features a 600-ton LED screen video board that is 72 feet high and 160 feet wide, with a total viewing area of 11,393 square feet. It's suspended 90 feet over the field and has four video boards that face out in each direction.
  • Retractable glass end zone doors provide views and access directly into the end zone areas.
  • The facility has two 300 foot-tall arches that span the length of the stadium's dome.
  • There are more than 300 suites and numerous clubs, as well as more than 3,000 Sony LCD displays throughout concourse and concessions areas.

Does AT&T Stadium have a retractable roof?

Yes, AT&T is one of only five stadiums in the NFL with a retractable roof.

The stadium's roof opening is about 410 feet long and 256 feet wide, and the retractable roof can open and close in just 12 minutes using a precision rack-and-pinion system.

The retractable roof is designed to give Cowboys fans an open-air environment, but also protect from weather elements when necessary.

Does AT&T Stadium have curtains?

Yes, AT&T Stadium does have curtains, but they're not used to block the sun at Cowboys games.

The facility's end zones lie toward the east and west, and large glass windows often invite sunlight directly into the field, causing visibility problems for Cowboys players.

AT&T Stadium uses curtains to cover these windows during concerts and other events at the venue, but owner Jerry Jones was not pleased with the idea of using them for football games.

A frustrated Jerry Jones had some comments about the sun impacting play at AT&T Stadium: “By the way, we know where the sun is going to be when we decide to flip the coin or not. We do know where the damn sun is going to be in our own stadium.”
