Jeremy Peña and the Houston Astros can’t catch a break when it comes to injuries, and that trend continued today against the Blue Jays.
Peña left the game with a trainer after fouling off a pitch in the top of the sixth inning.

— Julia Morales (@JuliaMorales) June 23, 2026Peña’s injury history is concerning, and this incident is yet another worrying development
Earlier this season, Peña suffered a hamstring strain that took a full month to rehab, and it’s unclear right now if this injury is related to that earlier issue or not. Peña also broke his finger in an exhibition game in the buildup to the World Baseball Classic earlier this year.
Last season, Peña suffered from a small rib fracture and several hamstring issues that limited his availability.
The 2022 World Series MVP can’t seem to stay healthy, and if this newest bump in the road keeps him out for an extended amount of time, Houston’s playoff hopes, which are already not looking fantastic, will be severely damaged even as other pieces rejoin the picture.
