Few programs in college football have transformed faster than the Indiana Hoosiers, and one stat from CBS Sports’ Brad Crawford perfectly captures just how dramatic the turnaround has been. According to Crawford’s “26 mind-blowing stats for 2026” feature, Indiana has not lost a single home game under coach Curt Cignetti, posting a stunning 15-0 record in Bloomington since his arrival.
That number becomes even more absurd when paired with what Indiana looked like before Cignetti took over. The Hoosiers went just 14-17 at Memorial Stadium during the previous five seasons combined before suddenly turning their home field into one of the toughest environments in the Big Ten.
Bloomington has become a nightmare for Big Ten opponents
The dominance has not been subtle either. Crawford noted that Indiana has beaten Big Ten opponents at home by an average of 33.3 points per game during the streak. In an era where roster turnover and transfer portal movement make year-to-year consistency difficult, Indiana has somehow created one of the sport’s most reliable advantages.
It is also changing the way the national college football world views the program. Indiana was once considered an automatic road win for conference contenders. Now, Bloomington has become one of the sport’s toughest environments and a legitimate national championship standard.
The Hoosiers will have an opportunity to extend that streak immediately in 2026. Indiana opens its home schedule Sept. 5 against North Texas before hosting Howard and Western Kentucky. A Friday night matchup against the Northwestern Wildcats on Sept. 25 could create another electric atmosphere in Bloomington.
Ohio State showdown could become the next defining moment
The real measuring-stick game, however, may arrive Oct. 17 when Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes football comes to town. Crawford pointed out that Indiana has only beaten one ranked opponent at home during this unbeaten stretch, a victory over No. 9 Illinois last season. That reality still fuels skepticism from some national observers despite Indiana’s rise into the sport’s elite tier.
But beating Ohio State at home would erase much of that lingering doubt instantly. Winning 15 consecutive home games in the modern Big Ten is not something that happens accidentally. It reflects culture, roster development and belief inside a program that has completely reshaped its national reputation.
Crawford’s original CBS Sports feature framed Indiana as one of the biggest statistical surprises entering the 2026 season, but the Hoosiers are no longer surprising anyone. They are defending national champions with one of the nation’s strongest home-field advantages, and Bloomington may only become more intimidating this fall.
