The New York Liberty defeated the Indiana Fever 98-77 on Wednesday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Breanna Stewart led New York with 24 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and four blocks on 10-for-15. Sabrina Ionescu finished with 15 points and nine assists on 5-for-14, including 3-for-9 from 3-point range. Natasha Cloud added 14 points and five rebounds.

Marine Johannes scored 12 points on 4-for-5 from the 3-point line off the bench, while Leonie Fiebich had 10 points on 4-for-6.

Kelsey Mitchell led Indiana with 16 points on 5-for-11, including 2-for-5 from 3-point range. Sophie Cunningham finished with 12 points and four rebounds in her first start this season. Damiris Dantas contributed 11 points and five rebounds off the bench.

Aari McDonald added 10 points and five assists, while Aliyah Boston finished with seven points and six assists on 1-for-8.

Shortly before the game, Fever star Caitlin Clark was downgraded to out due to a groin injury. With the loss, Indiana dropped to 12-11 and its three-game winning streak was snapped. On the other hand, New York, owners of the league's second-best record (15-6), has now won three straight games.

The teams have split their first two meetings this season. The Liberty won 90-88 on May 25, while the Fever had a 102-88 victory on June 15.

Indiana Fever vs. New York Liberty game summary

The New York Liberty had a 32-24 lead over the Indiana Fever at the end of the opening quarter. Sabrina Ionescu scored 10 points on 4-for-7 shooting, including 2-for-3 from 3-point range. On the other hand, Kelsey Mitchell had eight points for Indiana.

New York outscored Indiana 21-14 in the second quarter to take a 53-38 lead into the halftime break. Breanna Stewart led the Liberty with 13 points, nine rebounds and five assists on 5-for-8. Ionescu added 12 points and four assists, while Natasha Cloud scored nine points on 4-for-6.

Mitchell led the Fever with 13 points on 4-for-8 (2-for-4 from 3-point range) in the first half. Natasha Howard added eight points on 3-for-7. Aliyah Boston contributed five points and five assists, but went 0-for-4 from the field.

New York continued its dominance in the second half and led by as much as 27 en route to its 15th win this season.

Following the All-Star break, Indiana and New York will have a rematch on Tuesday. The Fever will then face the Las Vegas Aces on July 24, while the Liberty will battle the Phoenix Mercury on July 25.
