Indiana cornerback D'Angelo Ponds to return against Oregon

Indiana is expected to have cornerback D'Angelo Ponds available this week as the seventh-ranked Hoosiers visit No. 3 Oregon. The former All-Big Ten and All-America selection in 2024, was ruled out in Indiana's win two weeks ago over Iowa with an injury.

Hoosiers coach Curt Cignetti said Monday that he expects Ponds "to be fine and play."

Ponds has racked up 11 tackles, (three for loss), an interception and a blocked punt return for a touchdown this season. He had 55 tackles, three interceptions, nine pass breakups and a blocked kick in 2024.

This will be one game where all of Indiana's playmakers need to be ready to go. The top ten matchup will feature two teams near the top of every offensive statistical category. Both offenses average over 500 yards per game and 45 points per game.

Oregon's offense will be the first legitimate test for the Hoosiers defense, who allow an average of 221.4 yards per game (5th, FBS) and 9.6 points per game (3rd, FBS). They are one of three teams nationally to allow a single-digit average in points.

No. 7 Indiana and No. 3 Oregon are coming off respective bye weeks for a Saturday matchup (3:30 p.m. ET, CBS).
