Ilhan Omar curses out Daily Caller reporter over El Salvador question, then doubles down: ‘F— off’

“Squad” Rep. Ilhan Omar told a Daily Caller reporter to “F— off” Thursday outside the US Capitol after he asked her a basic question about Democrats traveling to El Salvador to show support for deported alleged MS-13 member Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

Myles Morrell identified himself as a journalist and asked Omar (D-Minn.): “Do you think more of your Democratic colleagues should be traveling to El Salvador to advocate on behalf of [Kilmar] Abrego Gracia?”

“I think you should f— off,” Omar shot back.

“You should f— off,” the Democrat repeated when a shocked Morrell asked what she was saying.

When Morrell protested, “Why me?” one of Omar’s staffers informed him that they were not taking any more questions and handed him her business card.

Morrell later posted the 20-second encounter on X, which quickly went viral.

“That was very unprofessional of her. Our elected officials should not be acting this way,” he posted on X.

But the Minnesota rep was unapologetic and doubled down on her foul-mouthed attack against the reporter.

“I said what I said. You and all your miserable trolls can f*ck off,” she shot back.

Multiple Democratic lawmakers have made trips to El Salvador to lobby for Abrego Garcia’s release, with Republicans offering to pay their way to remaining in Central America permanently.

Omar has also long been an outspoken critic of El Salvador’s pro-Trump President Nayib Bukele, whom she claims poses “threats to democracy.”

The exchange triggered swift backlash from Republicans and conservatives.

“If another member, perhaps Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene [R-Ga.], reacted this way to legacy media, I’m guessing the rest of the press corps would be up in arms,” RealClearPolitics reporter Phillip Wegmann mused.

“Going out on a limb to suggest that the mainstream press might care about this if this were a Republican repeatedly shouting obscenities at a reporter. Any thoughts from our stalwart journalistic class?” RedState writer Bonchie remarked.

“This is an unhinged response to an entirely fair question,” Washington Free Beacon reporter Chuck Ross said. “I think part of it is that Democrats are not used to being asked non-softball questions by Capitol Hill reporters.”
