The furniture giant IKEA is throwing a cheekily named “Meatballbecue” at its sprawling Southern California store this weekend, serving up its famous Swedish meatballs alongside classic summer barbecue fare.
IKEA’s Covina store is firing up summer vibes with a mouthwatering twist on a seasonal tradition on tomorrow from noon to 4 p.m., where shoppers can dig in at the Swedish Bistro for $6.99.

Customers lineup outside of an IKEA. ZUMAPRESS.comThe meatball bash comes as the retailer leans heavily into the unlikely food item that has become nearly as synonymous with IKEA as flat-pack furniture and maze-like showrooms.
The deal comes with four skewers, a scoop of potato salad, a slice of strawberry shortcake and fountain drink. IKEA says its Swedish meatballs first landed on its US menus in 1985, meaning Americans have been chowing down on them for over 40 years.
The chain also teamed up with Chupa Chups earlier this summer to create a limited-edition, vegan meatball flavored lollipop — a unique sweet and savory concoction.
The Covina location will keep the festivities rolling on August 15 with the grand re-opening of its Swedish Bistro, where IKEA Family members waiting in line can even snag a free “meatball sundae.”
